Hestia Hotel chain invests in Haapsalu’s growth: new wing, conference area and expanded water & sauna spa
Hestia Hotel Haapsalu Spa will begin its expansion in October with the construction of a new hotel wing.
The new building will be located next to the existing structure, replacing the current parking area. Parking spaces will be relocated underneath the new building.
As part of the expansion, the hotel will gain 60 new rooms with balconies—half offering views of Väike Viik and the other half overlooking the promenade. Additionally, the water and sauna spa will be significantly enlarged, and a new conference area accommodating up to 150 guests will be built.
The new building is expected to be completed in early 2027. The total investment is estimated at 8 million euros.
Külli Tapupere, CEO of AS Haapsalu Kuurort, the owner and investor of the building, comments: “We are pleased to contribute to the development of Haapsalu. It’s an attractive destination, and constructive cooperation with the city government has given us confidence that investments here are welcomed.”
Kaisa Mailend, CEO of Hestia Hotel Group, adds: “We’ve been working on this project for quite some time. It’s reassuring to know that this major step is supported by consistently positive feedback from our guests, the owners’ willingness to invest, and a shared development vision with the city of Haapsalu. The new complex will enhance our capacity for conference guests while continuing to serve spa visitors, with expanded relaxation areas.”
The new complex will create additional jobs and strengthen Haapsalu’s reputation as a spa tourism destination both in Estonia and neighbouring countries.
“True hospitality begins with caring and responsible choices. The new building in Haapsalu will follow Hestia’s sustainability principles—energy-efficient solutions, smart systems, and conscious resource use will help reduce our footprint while offering a warm and holistic guest experience,” adds Mailend.
The architect of the new building, Ain Kalberg, previously designed Hestia Hotel Kentmanni, which has received widespread recognition for its thoughtful and timeless design.
The main contractor for the design and construction work is AS Oma Ehitaja, who’s professional and quality-focused approach ensures the project will be completed to a high standard and within the agreed timeframe.
The new reception and conference area will be completed first, followed by the spa centre expansion and new rooms.
The hotel, water and sauna centre, and restaurant will remain open during construction.
Hestia Hotel Group is Estonia’s leading hotel chain, comprising 10 distinctive hotels in Estonia and Latvia, including the seaside Hestia Hotel Haapsalu Spa—an acclaimed destination for relaxation, holidays, and conferences.
